A well-defined objective simplifies later research stages. We start with the question the study should answer, then discuss available materials, proposed groups and practical limitations.
We then connect the aim to specific objectives and measures. We clarify design, inclusion and exclusion criteria, follow-up periods and measurement methods. For quantitative studies, we examine the basis for sample size and the statistical analysis plan.
If data has already been collected, we assess which questions it can address. We help identify suitable comparisons, account for paired observations and distinguish the main analysis from additional tasks. Limitations are discussed before interpretation.
The consultation produces a plan and recommendations. This document supports discussion with the supervisor and preparation of the methods section. We can continue support during data collection and later analysis where needed.
